Modulus Packaged Drives

Modulus Packaged Drives (up to 2,000+hp)

Modulus Packaged Drive Group

The Modulus Packaged Drive series is a range of drives and controls designed to allow systems builders and users to develop and construct their own customized systems entirely from standard pre-engineered components.

These AC and DC package drives with the drive.web option can easily be connected together, to the Internet using Ethernet, and to other components such as PLCs, Operator Stations and SCADA devices to build cost-effective distributed control systems of any size or complexity. This provides greater system flexibility and enables multi-user system support from any location.

Modulus drives are available either as packages mounted on an open panel, Modulus P, or as assemblies installed in an enclosure, Modulus E, to suit the type of operating environment and the control scheme required.

The Modulus Features Chart shows the combination of enclosures, drives and options that are available for the Modulus E series.

It is our intention to give you the very best quality and reliability.
Absolutely no exceptions to the rule!

Modulus products, with their wide range of calibrations, configurations and options, demand special attention to detail to ensure that your most exacting requirements are completely satisfied.

Every Modulus unit is accompanied by a detailed, 50-point, Quality Control Report throughout the entire process of specification, assembly, test and shipping. Every facet of the product, its design and construction are rigorously evaluated right up to the moment of shipping. Our view is that the job must be perfect for your requirements and if your application demands special build standards or inspections we will be pleased to incorporate them into our procedures.

For your reassurance and our pride, a copy of the Quality Control Report will be sent to you with every Modulus unit we ship!

Standards

The Modulus concept is based on standards.

Both the control schemes and the packaging are organized around design standards that use pre-engineered modules that ensure the use of stock component sources, proven techniques and established manufacturing procedures. The results are ...

Modulus P

The panels are sized generously to leave additional space for a limited range of control options.

Modulus P

The basic open panel unit incorporates the drive, its main AC contactor, high speed SCR fuses and a 110 volts control transformer. Many of these components are also available separately.

Details of these control options and an indication of the combination of options that can be accommodated on the standard panels is given in the Modulus Features Chart.

The standard Modulus P panel sizes (H x W) are:

P63 23" x 11" (585 x 275mm)
P64 22.5" x 13" (570 x 335mm)
P66 22.5" x 21.5" (570 x 550mm)
P94 33" x 16" (838 x 406mm)
P106 39" x 21" (991 x 533mm)
P126 46" x 21.5" (1170 x 550mm)
P128 46" x 30" (1170 x 750mm)

Modulus E

The Modulus E series of enclosed drive units incorporate the Modulus P drives assembled into an appropriately sized enclosure.

The basic units include only the power cable interconnections, and unless otherwise specified the enclosures will be a NEMA 12 type, (IP66) modified to incorporate fan cooling with filters when required. Their specification will be equivalent to drip proof NEMA 1.

Modulus E

Optional features include wiring control connections to terminals at the bottom of the enclosure, a variety of operator interface choices, door interlocked MCCB, motor blower protection, process control configurations and multi-drive networking.

Enclosure sizes are determined by consideration of the following:

The Modulus Features Chart shows the combination of enclosures, drives and options that are available.

Both full door, and flange mount disconnect (FMDC) type enclosures are available in the following standard sizes:

The standard Modulus E enclosure dimensions (H x W x D, excluding operator controls) are:

E632 24" x 12" x 5" (600 x 300 x 120mm) NEMA12 (excluding operator controls)
E641 24" x 15" x 8.5" (600 x 380 x 210mm) NEMA1 (excluding operator controls)
